Native American Radio Archives Project |
|---|
| The Generations Native American Radio Archives is a collection of audio tape recordings on cassette and reel to reel tape, gathered over a 30 year period. The current count of holdings in the archive is between 250 to 300 recorded entry items and growing. These are comprised of recorded speeches (120 +), interviews (140 +), statements and produced programs, on Native American topics of various tribes from North, Central and South America. |

Since the primary source for the Generations Archives are Generations radio programs, many of the initial archive entry items follow the Standard Formats used for these Generations programs. Of all the various formats developed, we found the most effective to be the 1/4 hr. Module. The Qtr. Hr. Module format not only fits well in the general broadcast playback time frames, but it is also the most readily adaptable to educational or classroom applications. In addition to the Qtr. Hr. format, there are also 1/2 Hr. and 1 Hr. program Formats, as well as the Original Recording Format, which includes unedited, unaltered entry items of varying lengths. |
